reversing sensor

I seem to have a reversing sensor fitted (somewhere) on my 96 XK8, which has obviously been set to pick up cob webs and midges. It bleeps at everything, yet there is no telltale evidence on the bumper or anywhere else that I can see. How do these things work? Can they be adjusted to identify a brick wall or another car rather than fresh air?

The Jaguar kits definitely use bumper mounted sensors so perhaps your car has an aftermarket sensor or sensors mounted below and possibly forward of the bumper in which case their angle to the ground could be incorrect. Then, they will pick up on almost anything close to the car, like the ground! Mike.
