having picked up my xk8 from Berkshire (175 mls away) fuel guage on the red. .there's a surprise! I was even more surprised to only squeeze £65 into it .then amazingly I covered 290mls before re-fuelling. again £65. I have since refuelled again but cannot believe mileage at 720 total and still half a tank left ..I make that somewhere near 30mpg, i am not gunning it at all, but cruising at legal speed limits. and having had a few "jags of old" i am amazed at these figures. why would you want anything else?
On top of this i have had the car for nealy a month and nothing has broken yet! and passed mot with no advises,,,,, happy days

Impressive! I hope I can match that, but somehow doubt it! I'm picking up my XK next week and will keep an eye on the mileage and compare. As you say, happy days!

Ian.

I have been averaging around 26 mpg in my 2005 XK8 convertible. I do get around 30+ on long motorway cruises provided I use the accelerator sparingly and use cruise control where ever possible - especially in speed restricted areas - too easy to go faster in this car. However, I have just had the engine "Terracleaned" and am hopeful that I will not only get improved economy, but better performance too. I will let you know in a couple of months what I am averaging. :D

Having had the XKR for over a week now, looks like the mpg figures are not as bad as I was expecting. Average on my run home, having zero'ed all first, was an amazing 32!! Even with relativly short local runs, the overall is still sitting at 23.4. Can't argue with that. Obviously, I'll need to lots more longer runs, just to keep the mpg figure up of course.
