Hi J.Mc,
Sorry can't help directly - mine is a coupe, but I recall seeing some forum comments in the past about the original oil having a tendency to congeal and needed to be flushed and the new type of oil used.
I am sure someone will be able to help, if not, check with David Marks or Nigel Thorley, who has an early convertible.
Good luck

Hi
You should check with David Marks. I have some oil but it was the remains of the tin that the dealer used when he flushed mine so I don't know whether it is the same as the original oil. I know it cost about £40+ per Lt from a main dealer and the flushing was expensive. I can give you the the details off the tin but mixing it might not be a good idea.If the roof is operating OK it shouldn't need flushing but check with David Marks. Believe me you will know if the oil is beginning to congeal

The fluid reservoir body has two marks, the upper one indicating the fluid level with the hood lowered and vice versa. Mike.

Hi John.
Sorry about the delay. My roof was flushed and the oil replaced by Rybrooks in Warrington. I have about half a litre that they gave me which what was presumably left over. Strangly it is not a Jag "part" but has BMW, Porsche, Rolls Royce and Bentley numbers on it.
It is made by Pentosin in Germany and is called Pentosin CHF 11S., product code no 1405106.
`The tin cotains a warning that it should not be mixed with Pentosin CHF 7.1 or any other hydraulic oil.
My XK8 was 1999 but I have no idea whether this was the original oil or whether after flushing Rybrooks used this as a replacement.
Hope this is heplful. You can call me on 01606 558881 if I can be of any further help.
Peter
