Postby Shropshirewinger » Mon Apr 06, 2009 4:37 pm

Does anyone know where I can get replacement Tonneu retaing toggles for my XK8 Convertible. It did have three that fit under to boot lid when tonneu cover is fitted but have lost one completely and another is broken.
Many Thanks
Bob

Hi,
I confess I've never seen these for sale although the complete tonneau covers do turn up on eBay from time to time. Have you tried the hood manufacturers like Aldridge or Turley who advertise in the magazine? Failing that, if you're handy, the rear toggles could be fashioned relatively easily from a material like wood. Mike.

Thanks Mike

Have contemplated my whittling skills which arnt up to much and tried to find an old duffle coat I had aged 10 to rob toggles off but to no avail. Will pobably drop on something just wondered if there was a quick fix before I go up to Scotland in XK after Easter.

Regards

Good news, last summer I had same issue and managed to get hold of said items via my local Jaguar dealer - comprised two rubber end caps and what looked like a clear plastic piece of pipe - from memory cost was around £7.
It did take a bit of microfiche surfing to get the right parts!

I used some 1/2" dowel painted black attached with an elastic band looped over each end but I suppose if you found some end caps off something else that would do as well.
