I know this is probably "old hat" to a lot of people but despite a lifetimes interest in all things Jaguar I am sure I have never seen this film before.
Check out the microphone!!

It's a fantastic piece of archive footage, isn't it? I just love the sound of that straight six; the same sound you get to a greater or lesser extent from any of Jaguars XK engined machines. Mike. :D

It was once said in my family ''jungle telegraph'' that my cousin Beryl once went out with Mike Hawthorn, my only very vague claim to fame :)

I'm probably the only bloke in the world who was not too impressed with him!
He flew into the airfield where I was working as an apprentice and asked me to refuel the aircraft he had arrived in.
On asking if he had an account or a carnet (sort of credit card..), he replied 'No I don't - but check with the office and tell them who it is..'
This I duly did and reported to Mike the bad news - 'Cash only'. Boy - did he give me an earful!

Years later I fixed a defect on Graham Hill's Piper Aztec - he was delightful. (Lifted little Damon and sister? off the wing too..!).I met Graham a few weeks later at a driving competition - he remembered me and thanked me again. What a gent.

Last one - Jim Clark occasionally filled my car at his dad's garage in Scotland. (It was one of the few that took the new-fangled Barclaycard).

Name dropper.

Continuing the character descriptions in this thread; when I worked in Scotland one of my colleagues had started life as a mechanic in the Borders. He used to service Jim Clark's cars and recounted a particular tale of being driven at a speed in excess of 100mph for Jim to demonstate a slight misfire! It was my then young colleague's first experience of three figure motoring and he was terrified although amazed at Jim's relaxed car control. Like many others,he described Jim as a perfect gentleman. :) Mike.
