Sat Nav for 2002 XKR

Postby NThomsen » Sat Jul 12, 2008 10:37 am

Does anyone out there know where I can obtain the most recent DVD disc for my 2002 XKR fitted with the Alpine system. I'm informed the Jag part No is C2N3024.
Many thanks

That's about what I was quoted, it seems very much OTT & I'm hoping someone will know of someone else etc etc.

I tried every alternative I could think of......I guess these DVDs are prepared by a contractor working exclusively for Jaguar.
I was forced to conclude they have us over the proverbial barrel with this one........so I reluctantly paid up !! :(

Couldn't find my German disk for the Trier trip so rushed out and bought a TomTom. The TomTom with its newer technology definitely does a better navigation job than the old (mine's 2002) Jaguar Alpine system and at £176 a Jaguar disk per country it doesn't take long for the TomTom to be a better investment too. Incidentally, last year I emailed Alpine about the availability of updated disks and didn't even get the courtesy of a response. Mike

I tried the same with Alpine & found them to be not too helpful.

I assume by the comments that the latest Denso DVD Disks will not work in the Alpine unit then! ...

Is it possible to upgrade the Alpine unit to the latest version? And is it only necessary to upgrade the gubbins in the boot or would the screen and controls also need upgrading?

Sat Nav Disc for 2005 XK8

Postby PaulKelly » Sat Jul 20, 2013 10:30 am

I've been searching for a couple of months now for a sat nav DVD disc for the alpine system. Does any one now where I can get one? I've even tried my main dealer he gave me a website to go on an order he said that's where they would get one from £165 + but they were not listed for any XK8 only the newer XK, I'm not to worried about using the Sat/Nav really it's just the clock display I'd like working, or is there a way of getting the clock display working without the disc.

These discs have always been a pain. They were expensive when bought from Jaguar and soon became unavailable when Jaguar dropped the Alpine unit. However, the best advice is, 'don't give up'. The discs do appear on ebay etc from time to time. Equally, if you only require the clock function, don't forget that any country disc, for example, a disc for France or Germany would fulfil your basic requirement. Why not try a Jaguar Enthusiast magazine wanted ad? You might be lucky and find a member with a spare non UK disc bought for holiday use and no longer needed. Mike.
