Drive in an XK8 (X150) 4.2 convertible
Moderators:MarkX, mike020150
We currently own a 2001 XK8 4.0 coupe and an MX5 Mk2 convertible. We need to cut down our fleet of cars and thought of 'combining' the two into an XK8 convertible, whilst taking the opportunity to get a slightly newer car, hence the X150 model. As we prefer comfort and a more relaxed drive we would probably look at the 4.2 with the smallest wheels available, which I think is 18" (we have 17" on our XK8). However, we have never even been in one and was wondering if there is anyone prepared to take us for a drive in theirs (as a passenger) and share their ownership experience? We would compensate you appropriately. We are in Bromsgrove in Worcestershire, but would be prepared to travel. Please post here or PM me if you feel you could help. Many thanks.

Because we sort of fall between two regions we don't get greatly involved with either, but it's still a good idea. Thank you.If your post fails to get a response, try contacting your local Region. Most are very helpful dealing with such requests. Mike.

Additional thoughts would be to identify cars for sale based on a distance you are prepared to travel - most trade sellers will let you have a test drive. You'd likely need to take into account the condition of the vehicle to assess how true a representation of the car the example is.
I have an XK8 convertible, so the chassis is not as firm as your XK8 coupe. I was loaned an XK Convertible by my local Jag dealer not long after they launched, I could not believe how rigid the chassis was and whilst the ride was a lot firmer I thought there and then one day I will have one of these. When a 5.0 lire coupe arrived on their forecourt in the colours I wanted I thought let's take it for a test drive - 3 minutes in I knew I was buying it - do I regret it - not one jot! Its on 20 inch wheels so its a very firm ride - the cornering is wonderful.
Looking forward to hearing how you get on.
