A couple of friends and I bought an XK8 as a bit of a gamble - it had a tidy set of Detroit wheels on it and the asking price was less than the value of the wheels so we figured we couldn't lose.
Once we got the car onto a lift it soon became clear that it was past salvation due to corrosion, and low oil pressure along with a loud rattle seemed to condemn the engine, too. Over the past few months we've been gradually stripping it for parts and this week the work has been completed as we took the engine out and removed both subframes.
The shell itself suffers from corrosion in the floor pan, around the rear arches and particularly around one of the rear subframe attachment points. There are also a couple of minor dents to the roof.
It's on the way to the scrapper once we've removed the three rear glass panels so I wanted to offer it here first for scrap value in case anyone has a use for it. Buy yourself a Land Rover chassis and bolt this to it!
