I have a problem with the canvass of my convertible roof starting to come away from the rear glass window on my XK150 leaving it exposed to the elements. My XK150 is a 2008 model and I wondered if this was a common aspect as these vehicles got older.
I've asked the likes of Autoglass if they can re-bond the glass to the roof but they wouldn't touch it and recommended fitting a replacement hood to the car. I appreciate that's the best and probably safest option but also an expensive option. Is anyone aware of any repair options or anything published in previous Jag Mags on this issue.
I'd also appreciate any information on what bonding adhesive is used to bond the glass to the canvass roof from new as I would like to attempt a fix before I have to commit to a hood replacement.
Thanks in anticipation

Re: XK150 convertible - rear glass detached from hood
This problem is unusual but not unknown. Repairs can be carried out. Jaguar recommended an adhesive (Teromix 6700, part number C2P25105) after using a surface cleaner (Weicon, part number C2P25106). The adhesive requires the surfaces to be clamped together for at least 10 minutes. Then, the join requires 24 hours to cure. A Jaguar main dealer should be able to complete this task for you (reference TSB JTB00283V2). Mike.
