I agree whole heartily with doing oil changes and maint ( as much as one can do) myself. It depends on you having the facility to do it though. I did the front suspension on my 66 MGB this winter and it was not too bad a task. I was also in my heated shop so that makes the difference.
Study , in depth, about the task you are going to do. It will alleviate alot of the unforseen.
