Have I done this correctly?
Nearly!
Although you are trying to display an image, the link you used does not point to an image (there's no .jpg at the end). It is actually a URL, so you should have used the URL tags in place of the IMG tags. Which will make it a Hypertext link, which is preferred on a BB.

Your second attempt was close, except that on this BB, images are resized to fit the format.
There is however an option to display the thumbnail at its native size.

The easiest way to do this is to hover over the image in question, then right click and select properties.
It will show the URL (which you can copy and past, and the width and height of the image.
Go to the post area and paste the URL in. Now add the link tags as shown above.
Voila
There is more info in the 'Using the BB' section.

If I remember correctly, I used photobucket account and linked to the image that way, and it automatically came out at that size (but I'm no wizz with computers!
Ah - The dreaded photobucket! Another wasted day in the offing. I just want to show off the Anthracite. Blue's not bad I suppose, and I must admit that Ray's looks real nice. (Be better with a roof though!)
My First XK8
Just posted a few photos of my XK8 which I purchased last month. I found her in Scotland and drove her back to Norfolk, what a drive.
