Anyone been to Spain or Portugal recently. Was looking for suggestions of places to stay and see. Driving down from Calais to Southern Portugal.
Greatly appreciated.

Nick google driving roads Portugal motorcycle diaries is a good start and do the same with Spain in the-motorcycle world they come up with interesting roads which are not straight. Enjoy the trip top tip buy a Liber t tag to get through France, Paradors in Spain interesting places to b&b driving through France Sunday good day to cover big miles as No lorries are on the road. Wonderful b&b with evening meal two hours down the 26 from Calais just outside Laon called La Bescce st Croix get there Saturday afternoon Aga will look after you then a good start for Sunday.

Hi. Can't help you with Portugal but we have just returned from 2 weeks in Northern Spain.

Not sure how long you will have in Spain given you're also doing Portugal, but one 'must stay' is Hotel Casa Del Marques in Santillana del Mar. The hotel is fabulous without being overly expensive, private courtyard parking behind the hotel for the Jaguar. Lots of restaurants within walking distance. The village is a time warp. Wonderful!

Paradors are always worth a visit/stay. Picos de Europa is a must but you'll need to allow a day at least for this. Llanes is very nice and has a good beach.

Casona de la Paca in Cudillero is a wonderful hotel. Don't know why its only 3 star. Very comfortable and run by very helpful people. Nothing too much trouble. Private car park. Great breakfasts. Not expensive but probably one of the best hotels of the holiday.

I made all my bookings by Booking.com where possible.

We have often used Paradores, these are often in interestingly places and interesting buildings although not always the cheapest places to stay.

Give them a ring and ask for Kieran and tell him I sent you. You could ask him if he'd be prepared to send you one of their Tour routes + suggestions for hotels?
