ACC Cruse control

My Jaguar XKR 2001 has the old ACC cruse control that has stopped working after it going to two repairer's it seems to be unrepairable. So I contacted Jaguar Land Rover Classic and Jaguar do a up grade unit with a fitting kit for the XK8 and the XKR has any one fitted one and if so did the car have to go to Jaguar for the ECU to be ready programmed cannot get a straight answer out of Jaguar any help would be helpful
