Just done what I shouldnt!

Hi

Having read all the posts over the years on ' don't use a car cover' I havent.

However due to water coming in from pinched door seals in both doors and soaking the floorwells I have relented and just purchased a cover. Apparently it can be put on wet and the condesation evaporates and the company suppy Bentley , Aston Martin etc.

While I understsnd the wheel arches could be damaged its them or a new floor!

Sitting here , soaking wet, I am not sure how to approach the seals and at the moment they will have to stay as they are until I can get in with the hair drier and dry the carpets and fix the seals. New seals are 'mortgage extending ' and its the frame seal tht is pinched which means all the trim has to come off.

if that is the final solution and cant be avoided at least the carpets will be out but for now its car cover time!! :D

Hi Pat,
In my world I owe a lot of thanks for my car cover. It was bought for me as a birthday present from my daughter just after I'd bought my X308.
I was a bit hesitant about using it at first and it did take me a while to use it.
I think I didn't want people to think I was being too pretentious.
Then I moved to Plymouth from Kingsbridge which is a bit more inland and because my car is kept outside on the drive bird s**t(crows and seagulls  )became annoying(really pissing me off  )so I use the cover most of the time now.
Perhaps if I had an expensive respray I might feel different but at the moment I'm happy to use one.
It's not an expensive one by any means and I don't put it on when the car is wet of course.
So don't feel bad about it Pat,it's serving a purpose :D.
Protecting your pride and joy.
Take care.

Hi Andy

Many thanks for the reply, it is very much appreciated.

I would have purchased a cover 2-3 years ago but I always had the nagging feeling that I shouldn't due to the problems. I tried to convince myself it was right but that feeling was nagging away. They certainly sell a lot of them.

This one despite not having mirror pockets which I wanted (I could have them if I ordered the custom cover at over twice the price) it's still cost a few quid.

Apparently it's like a divers suit ,can be put on wet cars and the moisture will evaporate and keeps anything and everything dry. The company are about 60 miles from me so if it doesn't I will be on the way with it.

It will be off the car as much as possible but for deluges like we had today and the bad winters we get it will be put on and serve a purpose.

Many thanks again

Kind regards

Pat

Hi

Finally managed to get the cover on the car and the sun has come out and is blazing hot .Definitely a need for these 8)

Anyone watching would have seen 2 people who thought they knew what to do, but ended up having a good laugh at their ineptitude. Neighbours compimented me on the cover and then burst out laughing as we were all standing there in the blazing sunshine  Praying for rain at the moment :)

the weather forecast says its going to be blazing hot so unless some of the predicted thunderstorms arrive its off with the cover as its a daily(ish)driver.

The next laugh will be getting it back in its bag
