New acquisition

Postby mickeyboy25 » Tue Mar 07, 2017 9:46 pm

Hi I've finally taken the plunge and bought myself an xk8 convertible, looked at so many on internet I got fed up with looking , so many out there mostly from dealers, I whittled it down to 2 1 in Manchester and the other in Sussex, called the dealer in Manchester and it just didn't sound right he couldn't answer questions that I was advised to ask by the club, the guy in Sussex was total opposite he reeled off answers and made the right noises and the car was exactly as described. Car is 2008 convertible black/black hood cream leather bodywork spotless and he's going to give it a full valet in and out, full service and a new mot. Dealer will give me a 6 month warranty included but he said RAC are doing a 3 year warranty for the price of 2 for £600 4 quid a week must be worth it for peace of mind I would have thought has anyone had any experience of these warranties and do you think it's worth it ?
I will be looking for a car cover or pull over car port has anyone got any recommendations, also a wind deflector for behind seats, I will check the parts section but if anyone's got a spare I would be interested.
Looking forward to Sunday when I pick her up so I'll be taking the wife out for a train ride and driving home in some style, maybe a country pub lunch on the way home

Well done, you took the plunge! If you need the peace of mind and are thinking about a warranty, have a word with the office. The Club has a warranty scheme too.
A wind deflector is a good idea. They make quite a difference. Check the Club's online ads as well as eBay because the deflectors do crop up occasionally on both sites. However, if buying second hand, first check whether your car has the sockets already fitted in the back seat backrest upholstery gaps (towards the top of the centre trim section). It will have the side trim sockets although not necessarily the rear sockets. The rear sockets are not standard in an XK but may be there if it's had a deflector fitted previously. Similarly, when buying a deflector second hand, if they are needed, ensure the deflector comes complete with those rear sockets which attach to existing fixings behind the centre trim piece.

Happy motoring with a smile! :D Mike.
