This is quite interesting re the controller and associated bits, probably already on here somewhere I guess,... but worth a read to see what interacts with what !

Re: Jaguar Electrical dept info
Yes, essentially a good twenty minute yarn which to my knowledge I don`think we have seen before. Quite a bit of abstract and vertical thought needed and a fair amount of messing with our cars to be able to envisualise what the copy is all about. Not ab initio stuff.
Not quite how I would have written it but certainly extremely enlightening.....read three times over three days to perhaps get full value. Wish I still had my old electronics lecturer alongside me to translate some of the jargon.
The Jaguar Overview and Electrical Guides of the period give further insight. They are not a bad read but sometimes various items can get scattered rather illogically across the publications and need rationalization.
Definitely a useful piece if rather high brow level pitched.

Re: Jaguar Electrical dept info
the heated screen on my X350 doesn't appear to work. Anyone know which fuse I need to check in the first instance?
Re: Jaguar Electrical dept info
Perhaps Boz, there might be some folk with specific knowledge of your problem on the X350 forum, unless Rob J is reading this section. Definitely worth a visit there.
PTR, many thanks for sourcing that excellent piece of info on our AJV8 engines. As Mike says, possibly not of interest to all due to its technical nature but with that kind of systematic approach we might gain a useful insight into where a particular fault might lie.
It gives some useful info on your knock sensor problem PTR and (with hindsight) the reasons for the errors behind Mike's detatched pipe (or the one on his car anyway)
I am personally interested in understanding what is going on with the relatively complex systems on my Daimler SV8.
A good intro read for any other techy types is an excellent book by Roger Bywater of AJ6 Engineering (Google it) who developed many of the electronic systems on earlier Jaguar cars.
Using the word 'complex' might be strange to anyone involved with computer gaming, as even the V8 'only' uses 16 bit architecture and has storage capacity measured in kilobytes! Even still, the microprocessors on our cars are twiddling their thumbs for most of the time, even at full revs.
Thanks again,
Ian
