convertible roof not sitting properly

Postby FELIX456 » Fri Jun 11, 2010 4:09 pm

Hi again, I think I just jinxed my soft-top-doh.
I just pulled her out of the garage to give her a quick wash when i noticed that the header rail wasn't sitting properly on the windscreen top just over the drivers side. No water leaked in. No drips of fluid off the speaker cover this time. No warning light on dash and the usual 'bing' happened just before the rear windows wound up. Nothing to warn me there may be a problem, just the usual drivers window forgetting how to drop down when opening the door-which I fixed.
Any hints or warnings before I drop the top again, to check it still works?
Cheers guys
Tara x

Hi again guys, i think i've figured it out.
you know the window forgot to drop? well it had forgotten to drop before the roof went up, so the frame sat on top of the glass, which was enough to not let the header rail seat properly.
window fixed.
roof dropped and then raised, all super, no problems.
must remember to check the windows drop before the roof finishes it's circuit!
ta though

Hi Tara,
Don't forget that windows failing to drop and return correctly can be the first signs of a battery which is past its best. If your car is sporting an old battery it might be worth changing it before it lets the car down and see if it fixes the window issue too. Mike.
