as above i went to minster jag on barrack road near leeds and i asked for a few things ............................the total came to 710 squids just for a few things that i thought would be good to change after after 12 years ,

i mean 60 quid for a rear view mirror cover and 156 quid for 1 bonnet vent good god ........what funny about it is that one bonnent vent is cheaper than the other at 133 quid

does any body have anywhere that offers reasonable prices and no toffy nose im better than you service

dont get me wrong im not a cheap pikie ,i just spent 700 squid on the best rubber known to man for the old girl (full tyre change that was a shock lol)and she is my project car and a keeper


any help from the wheeler dearlers masters on this forum will not go amiss

Hello Brett,

E-bay or breakers such as Eurojag will often save you a considerable sum of money. I think I`m correct in saying that Adamesh sell bonnet vents for the XK range.

It can be quite suprizing what can be found with a little surfing on the net.

I wonder whether they were 20" tyres , don't think you would get a set of 20"Pirelli's or 20"Dunlop Sport Maxx's for that money , more like £800 +

20"s of Pirelli quality are usually £1000ish! I moved downmarket to Dunlop SportMaxxs at approx £170ish each.

You say you have two of these tyres in your garage awaiting fitting.

Just make sure they are not the same as the front tyres. Your 18" rear wheel tyres, original fitments by Jaguar, should be P Zero 255/45 ZR18 Assymetrico - the wheel rim is wider on the rear wheels. They also have a higher load rating.

BTW, I would say that a lot of XK8/R drivers would not agree with HellCat's "best rubber known to man" statement.
I have used them for over 5 years on my XK8 until I changed to TOYO Proxis T1-R which are far superior in my experience. My car is in daily use with at least one Alpine tour every year, so the tyres are tested through the whole speed range of the car's capability.

You will also find that many have switched to Continental and Dunlop and much prefer them over the Pirelli.

My last 4 TOYOs, now just over one year old cost me £600 fitted and balanced, where the P-Zero would have cost me £228 per tyre at the time.

There also seems to be an ever-recurring delivery problem with Pirellis over the last few years.

each to his own dude lol
they have already been fitted thats was the price tag for fitting and all the other cost involved , even the nitrogen fill lol

imho they are still the best might take the beast down to silverstone lol

Pirelli's have recently (last 12 months) changed their compound and the new ones are supposed to be awesome (as our American cousins would say).

I've 18" Double 5's and have tried

Avon ZZ3 (rubbish)
Falken (not bad)
GDS3's (good 26k miles)
Toyo's (average)
Pilot Sports (average)

Most recently changed for a set of Uniroyal rainsport 2's in staggered fitment, OMG these tyres are amazing, where I'd get lift from everything else I've tried when driving at speed in the wet these just keep gripping.

Cornering is sharp and refined although road noise is up a little (probably due to the 10mm of tread these come with as standard.

And a set of 4 around £600 if you shop around which is a bargain.

It has the highest rating for a wet weather tyre on mytyres and lets face it it's wet in the UK an awful lot (
