early XK8 throttle body replacement for FREE!!!!!!!

Postby Brakebuster » Mon Apr 13, 2009 6:02 pm

as this has been highlighted in another post , all V8 owners must read this , this includes the XK8 as well......so tell anyone you know.....

it only applies to pre-1999 cars with the AJ26 engine though

if it hasnt already been done, your pre 1999 XJ8 or XK8 engine is due a FREE throttle body replacement, this includes labour to....

the TB has a tendency to cut out at motor-way speeds and stalls the engine, it will then restart with no problem and your on your way, but not fun if it happens in the outside lane........

Jaguar are fitting brand new replacements for all the affected cars for FREE , BUT ONLT TILL JUNE THIS YEAR , after that you have to buy the parts and pay for them to be fitted

all you need to do is......

phone your nearest Jaguar dealership, quote your VIN and tell them to see if the Throttle body replacement has been done to your car, if not they will offer to do it for you asap ,

DO NOT PAY TO HAVE THIS DONE !!!

get it done NOW , your life could depend on it

BB

post back here if you get it done......

Hi, My XKR sufferd the fault as discribed in Bleasies post twice last week on busy M6! Problem is that mines a 2001 my with later type throttle. So, is the fault supposed to be only on the throttle with the vaccumethingy on the top ? And do,s anyone know what the "exceptional circumstances" are that cause this heart stopping problem? Im supposed to be visiting relatives in France in a couple of weeks but dont want to drive over there if I cant sort this problem!
Thanks Bob

Hi Bob,
Start with then easy stuff first. Either clean it yourself or have someone clean the throttle body for you. later cars are not immune from throttle body issues just less likely to suffer them.
Incidentally, for readers with early cars Bleasie tells me that the warranty recall expiry on the early cars has been extended to the end of the year. Mike.

For everyone with the later TB you can clean it as per the instructions here (which I made a small contribution to:
