All vehicle manufacturers produce technical bulletins which they circulate to their dealers. Some of the content, such as recall information, may be safety related while much of it deals with general in-service issues, the introduction of improved spare parts and repair methods. This section will be used to draw Forum readers' attention to key subjects on which the factory has produced advice to dealers. The material will contain the salient points from the factory bulletins produced for this purpose. Entries will be intended to raise owners' awareness and help the understanding of when solutions or improvements are available. This section is not intended to act as detailed guidance to repair procedures. Where necessary, owners should consult their dealerships or workshops with suitably trained staff.

Mike, is there anything re the sound system in a 2004 XKR - Alpine system please? ?Having trouble understanding the setup as one rear speaker has no connections at all. ?

I'm unclear what precisely is the query. It sounds (sorry about the pun) as if you need to acquire a copy of the Jaguar XK8 & XKR Supplementary Information CD from Jaguar Classic Parts (or elsewhere). That disc contains the illustrative wiring arrangements for the standard and premium in-car entertainment systems. Alternatively, there should be similar information on a JTIS disc if you can find a second hand copy advertised for sale. Mike.

Hi Mike, ok thanks for that. Its a strange one. In the rear there are two large bass speakers for the sub woofer. One had blown so I looked to replace both of them. the near side rear was fine when replaced, but went to replace the drivers rear side and the speaker is there and the connector to connect the speaker to the wiring loom, but the wire loom part is totally missing! thats why the speaker isn't working. Cant think Jaguar would put in a speaker, but no wire loom attachment?? Trying to find out if there should be one there or not.

After all this time, it's a bit unlikely to have been a Jaguar issue that no-one noticed. I'd be more likely to blame a former owner either attempting to upgrade the system (probably with second hand components & wiring) or removing suspect original wiring and never getting around to replacing it. To save money and weight, modern cars rarely include wiring for accessories which haven't been specified on the car's order form so absent wiring is more common than it used to be. Mike.
