Engine oil leaks - Oil Cooler hose failures

Owners of 2004 model XK range vehicles should be aware that there was a batch of suspect hoses fitted to some of these vehicles. Some hoses have failed in service leading to engine oil loss.

It is not known whether any of these hoses have found their way into other cars through the supply of spare parts.

Most affected cars will have been checked by diligent dealers whilst servicing has taken place. However, if you have a car within the VIN number range A39699 to A41740 or an untraced engine oil leak, it may be worth checking the date code on the engine’s oil cooler hoses. The affected hoses are those with a date code of 43 03. The code is written along the length of the hose after the manufacturer’s name (Aeroquip). 2004 model cars should have the feed and return hoses changed under Jaguar warranty. Other cars found with these hoses should also have the hoses changed to avoid the higher risk of oil leakage and consequent engine damage. Hoses with other date codes are not known to be affected.
