XK Meet Up - September 2024

Postby MarkX » Mon Mar 11, 2024 10:21 am

Hi everyone,

As your Modern XK Coordinators we are thinking about having an XK meet up on Saturday 14th September 2024. The idea would be to meet in a fun place, enjoy each others company, cars and look at a wealth of automotive attractions.

The venue would be the Kop Hill Climb. Lots of exciting and interesting cars, lots of action, huge variety of food stalls and trade stands. I think I'd describe it as a fusion of petrolheads meets village fete and all the organisers profits go to charity so we’d be doing some good as well. To quote Wallace and Gromit - it's a grand day out.

For further info have a look at the web site: https://kophillclimb.org.uk
Location: HP27 0LA

If you could indicate your interest in attending then we can have a chat with the organisers regarding getting a place for us to park together and any associated costs.

We look forward to hearing from you.

If Modern XK owners are looking for an event to get behind, then I have the following for you:

Since leaving my post as your Modern XK Section Coordinator, you may have thought that I was abandoning you, but when it comes to events and outings, that is not the case.

I do have a Drive It Weekend planned out, to take place the week after the "official" Drive It Day, and my event will take place over the Saturday Apr.27.24 and Sunday Apr.28.24. The format will be similar to past weekends, but freed of the constraints of Section, you will be welcome to come along in whatever Jaguar model you have, or want to.

The Saturday will see us gather together to spend time at the Boness and Kinneil Railway, which is also the home of the Scottish Railway Preservation Society and the plan will be to be onsite between 11:00 and 15:00 hours. We will have reserved parking onsite and there is lots to spend time on at the Museum and Station, including a train ride hauled by a steam locomotive. In the vicinity of the Station there is also ready access to the "Falkirk Wheel", the "Kelpies" and also the "Boness Motor Museum", so plenty to catch nearby.

On Sunday we will set off from the Base Hotel to drive, 86 miles, through the Scottish countryside to a magnificent hotel, overlooking the picturesque town of Pitlochry, where we can enjoy a Sunday Lunch in the company of like minded enthusiasts. Admiring the assembled Jaguars in the car park will be optional. For anyone wishing to stay over, I have arranged for us to obtain a deal rate from the hotel that includes Sunday Lunch, Sunday evening Cheeseboard and full Scottish Breakfast, with accommodation in a standard room, before checking out on Monday morning.

Anyone wishing to obtain more information on what is planned, should send an email to Jim Mann at scotland.ambassador@jecregions.org.uk and I will be happy to send you the details.
