Our next Forum event will be a long weekend in Scotland. It will start with our arrival at the selected hotel in Glasgow on Thursday, 31st Aug. 2017 and end with breakfast on Monday, 4th Sep.2017.
The hotel for our weekend will be within the great city of Glasgow. Why a city base? Well, there is a lot to see and do within the city as well as plenty of attractions within a short drive. Why not take advantage of the location and extend your break? Indeed, if you would like advice on what to see and do during an extended period, don't hesitate to make contact with Jim Mann for helpful suggestions of where to go and what to see in Scotland.
Anyway, back to the Forum weekend, the plan is to offer Autumn Gael 2017 participants a variety of experiences using a mixture of optional outings that you can choose to participate in, or not, alongside free time to allow exploration of Glasgow and its surrounding area. On Thursday afternoon / evening, there will be a welcome get together. After Thursday’s drive, Friday will be a free day. There is lots to see and do in the vicinity of the hotel. E.g. Glasgow has guided historical walks as well as open top bus sightseeing tours. There are numerous free art galleries and museums close by. In particular, try visiting the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, which is in the top 3 free attractions in Scotland or the new Riverside Museum, which is the Glasgow Transport Museum with a Glasgow / Scottish emphasis. Glasgow boasts some world class shopping precincts too.
On Saturday, we will undertake a leisurely drive on some of the most scenic roads in the UK, culminating in afternoon tea. Then, Saturday evening will be a chance for participants to seek out dinner at one of Glasgow's many wonderful restaurants.
Sunday will be a day of more choices. For the petrol-heads there are two motorsport events at the end of relatively short drives. At Boness, there is the Boness Revival event, which runs on both the Saturday and Sunday at the historic Boness Hill Climb track. At Knockhill, now Scotland’s only real motorsport circuit, there is motorbike racing, Super Bikes. For keen followers, this too will be a two day meeting. Alternatively, there will be an opportunity to take another leisurely drive through the countryside. A Forum Dinner will be held in our hotel on Sunday evening, no doubt with a drink or two beforehand. The hotel itself has many facilities, including importantly, secure car parking.
If you would like to join us or would simply like more details and prices, contact Jim Mann (jim.mann2@btinternet) and Jim will be able to help and to give you the special arrangements to make a booking with the hotel. Modern XK Forum events are nothing if not sociable, why not join us for another friendly event?
