Late arrival - only just found this board

Postby Jaguar_Enthusiast » Sun Mar 02, 2014 6:32 pm

My XK has just passed its 3rd birthday and it's taken me that long to find this board - I think I've been confusing the website's Forums and Bulletin Boards.

As a newcomer, please forgive a dumb question - from a readability standpoint, is there any reason why the XK8 and "new" XK Boards are combined? I only ask because I didn't think there was much carry over of technology between the models. (I see that the F-Type has its own board now)

Which of the sub boards here are relevant to the X150? I've been dipping in and out of some of the posts and it's not always clear which model they relate to - especially those referring to the "XKR" - common to both models.

Anyway, I'm pleased at long last to be able find all the experience shared here

Hi & welcome to the bulletin board! You have a very sensible combination of cars if I say so myself. :)
You pose a valid question about the combination of the X100 and X150 cars that is difficult to answer in logical terms. The best I can give is that the similarity of nomenclature (XK8 and XK) will forever mean that confusion will reign. Thus, it is probably easier to group them together. Fortunately, at least the engine and gearbox carried over and the XK is a direct replacement for the XK8 unlike the F-Type which opens a new market segment for Jaguar, thus making it easier to separate the new model. This quandry is not new for Jaguar sports cars. The series III V12 E-type shares hardly anything beyond its name with its six cylinder siblings but no-one queries their inclusion on one bulletin board and one Forum. Mike.
