My Maiden Post from Scotland

I thought it time that I emerge from the shadows and post on the JEC forum.
I have owned my 1999 XK8 convertible since 2007 and I love it. I had the car serviced by Stratstone Jaguar till 2011 after which I took he decision to carry out much of the work myself. Initially I carried out all of the basic servicing, replaced brake lines, upper wishbone bushes, thermostat & housing and solved a couple of problems with failed coils etc. This winter I have the car off the road and have replaced the tensioners and chains, dropped the sump pan, changed fuel filter, and am currently working on changing the roof hoses, one of which had ruptured (the dreaded green shower). While I am at it I have a few other jobs to do, including a repair to the floor plates. It all sounds a lot but I find that doing simple work myself is rewarding, affordable and I better understand the car.
I was an XKEC member for a few years and might rejoin at some point but for now I find the JEC meets my needs well. The magazine is superb and I attended the last XK8 seminar which really spurred on my enjoyment and understanding of the car.
I am looking forward to being back on the road in the spring and will hopefully meet with some of you at events.
Happy New Year and,
"lang may yer lums reek and yer XK8/R's run"
