In November 2012 I set out to buy myself a present. Some say it's a mid life crisis (wife) - I on the other hand have to point out that I intend to live life well beyond 100 and therefore I haven't quite got to mid life yet...when I do THEN my perhaps my crisis will be somewhat more expensive!!
So as I said I had to buy myself a present and I am now the very proud owner of a Jaguar XKR MY2000 (1st Jan 2001!!!).
I paid an exceptionally good price of only £4750 for it....what a bargain. Surely it this is too good to be true....maybe.
I remember being so definite in my mind that I was going to buy it even before I had seen it that even if it only had three wheels I would have parted cash!!! Surely this is madness.
Well I sort of did my research, and given the book price thought there was about 2K to play with if I got it wrong. (Perhaps joining this club BEFORE buying would have been more beneficial BUT that is all in the past!)
So far I have had to replace the alternator and water pump. One of the headlights has been replace with a non washer version and there are a few chips and scratches that need some loving care.....and I think the starter motor might need replacing (but if I tell her she is going to the garage she always starts!) Oh and I have an EGR fault which could be the valve or an actuator problem)
However I have to say as a newbie in the Jaguar arena I am absolutely smitten. She purrs like perfection and by the Power of Greyskull can she move!!! (Oh and I love getting that look from people when I drive by... (maybe it is a mid life crisis after all
)I'm no mechanic but I can turn my hand, so I intend to try my best where I can and learn about what makes her tick in more detail, and hopefully with a little help and advice from some very kind people in this club she will be a very trusty companion for many years to come.
On my flipside I also own a 1978 Vespa P200E.......Enough said

Hence, it may be worth getting one of the Jaguar specialists, like David Marks garages (Nottingham) or XJK (at Stoke) to give the car a once-over. then, you would know exactly what will need your attention in the immediate future and what can be left until time or funds permit. Happy motoring! Mike.
