Just joined the club today , having bought a 1997 XK8 2 weeks ago. Unfortunately I live in Germany and the car is at my new home ( bought December 2011 - I am English) in England. Hope to bring the car to Germany for the summer, after having tensioners etc done on the car. Unfortunately I need a driver's handbook so can anyone help? So far I have found a 2001 American handbook to download or an American 1997 handbook to buy.

Hi Geof ,

Welcome to the club :D

I'd search Ebay for a manual for your 97 car , they do differ
Is this the only manual you have missing or is the whole pack missing :?: ,

All the best ,

Nik

Hello Nik,
The whole pack is missing !
I actually was looking to buy a Porsche 944 cabriolet (have had 3 Porsches so far) or a Mercedes SLK. Found the latter in a Ford dealership at Xmas close to where I had bought my new house but while viewing it my partner saw a rather large blue sportcar nearby. She instantly fell in love with it but we had to go back to Germany so we basically forgot about buying a car.
We came back to England a couple of weeks later as I had a lot of personal business to sort out. One night we drove past the garage and I stopped for a quick look and there was the Jaguar sitting all covered in frost. Well the inevitable happened and we bought it, the day before we came back to Germany. The garage delivered it late in the afternoon, in the dark and reversed it carefully into the garage( a bit of a tight fit) and that is where it is now unfortunately. At 5.45 am the next day we set off to return to Germany.
Now I want to sort some things out . The car passed it's MOT with no advisories and it was checked over BUT it has no books etc and there is no service history.I spoke to the previous garage who sold it and they gave me some details and informed me about the person they had bought it from. I found out the main owner(10 years) was a bit of a collector and tried to contact him but unfortunately he died last year. Anyway, yesterday having read everything I could find about what needs checking and possibly replacing, I spoke to Dave Marks in Nottingham - on my next visit to England the plans are to deliver the car to him and do any necessary work.
That is the story - a Porsche fanatic has now bought himself a JAGUAR !

Welcome Geof,
I hope you will enjoy your new purchase when you get to drive it. If you go to Jaguar's Topix website (http://topix.jaguar.jlrext.com/topix/ve ... B.prs72904), some of the handbook information can be read online. Unfortunately, it tends to give better coverage to the newer models but you might find it helpful. Mike.

Have you had a word with Andrew Swift ?....He has a good selection of Jaguar Handbooks.
His contact details are in "Club Contacts" in the magazine.
