Advice sought please

I’m copying this thread from elsewhere on the forum, hoping to get a few replies from the experienced members. I’ve already received a wonderful reply from Mr Mann but hope others could contribute also....

I’m about to fulfill an ambition of mine and buy either an XK8 or XK...but...I’m in no way mechanicall minded and wondered if anyone can offer advice?
What to buy?, what to look out for?, pros and cons really.
I’m wary of buying a “lemon” without any help.
I’m hoping that some experienced owners can give me some advice.

Hello and welcome. There are 2 books that I would say are required reading if you are considering buying one of these cars.

The Essential Buyers Guide - Jaguar XK8 & XKR 1996-2005 published by Veloce ISBN 978-1-845846-59-5
You and Your Jaguar XK/XKR also published by Veloce ISBN 978-1-845848-15-6

Both are written by our (award winning!) magazine editor Nigel Thorley and what he doesn't know isn't worth knowing!
