New member from Cornwall

Postby DaveO » Mon Oct 15, 2018 1:34 am

Just joined up but I seem to have missed a membership number during the process. I have recently bought a 2004 XKR coupe' in BRG. It will spend most of its remaining life sat in my warm comfy garage as I'm told it will be a good investment, not sure if the wife believes me, ha :)

Hi Dave,
Welcome! If you have just joined, you will receive a membership card with your membership number on it.

Owning an XKR is about driving rather than investing. If the car appreciates, that's a bonus! Happy motoring. Mike.

Thank you Mike, my pack arrived this morning and very pleased with the mag which will be very useful for spares etc. I have owned a few jags going back along and got married in an E Type in 1971. I wish I had kept all my sports cars!!! This XKR purchase is just for something decent to drive when the sun is shining and me and wife are going on a trip together. I drive a Freelander for my general workhorse and wife has own car. I shall probably try to restrict mileage to 5K/annum and have just transferred insurance to Footman James.

When I had an engineering company in Oxford I did a lot of work for TWR leading up to Jaguar reclaiming their GroupC LeMans title so you could say I have a great affection for the Marque.

Hi dave,

With that TWR connection, you should book a place at the Club's AGM where Richard West will be giving us a talk about his time with TWR. Richard is a good speaker and will be sharing some previously unseen material. It would be worth the long drive! Mike.

Hi Dave,
Try this. Ensure you are signed in. Click on your username (just above to the far right). That will take you to the user control panel. Click on Board Preferences. Click on Edit Notification Options. That should do it. Mike.

Thanks Mike, looks like I have been there and ticked all the boxes but the submit buttons were not greyed out so I hit those again. I am not experienced at forums but I think what I am missing is to see how I subscribe to a forum, or to a topic. Like right click on XK8 and hit subscribe. No amount of clicking reveals a subscribe option. Also I cannot find a user guide to the forum ?
