Afternoon all,
Just registered with the club, I live in Oxfordshire and own a 1996 XK8 Convertible in Carnival Red. I've been re-commissioning/restoring it over the past few years now while using it in summer and have worked my way around the car. With a young family now the car s on the back burner but although in good shape it's still in need of work.
I've carried out a full front subframe re-build with cleaned & clear-coated subframe, re-painted arms, new bushes & ball joints, V-mounts etc. This is now waiting to be fitted then I'll do the same on the rear. I'm also about to re-fit the original option 18" wheels to the car after sourcing a set and having them re-powder coated, I've had to source new bolts and badges and it's surprising how it all adds up, but at least spares are available! The car is currently fitted with a set of BBS 18" wheels which are very nice and when I sell them will fund the new wheels and a lot more repairs.
Anyway, I'm 31 live in Bicester and work for JLR in the Technical Service department so am not afraid to get the spanners out and work on my XK8, although it's finding the time now that's the issue. There are also still many employee's in the company who worked on X100 project so I'm always interested to probe more and find out what they did and interesting facts about the project through it's development.
Anyway that's a little about me

Hi jwpalfrey.
Welcome to the club and the XK8 Forum, although I have a XJ8 myself I do like the sleek lines of the XK8 and find myself looking at the classifieds quite regularly to see what's on the market.
Carnival Red is a wonderful colour, one of my favourites.
Are you looking at keeping it all original or slightly modded, which ever way you go you will end up with a wonderful car, good to hear your not afraid to do some work yourself either and from someone so young as well
.
You'll have to post some photo's now you teased us with the colour and description of your car.
Good luck with the work and keep us updated with your progress.
Enjoy the club,
Take Care.
Andy

A big welcome to the Club. The XK8 is a great member of the Jaguar family, stylish, brisk with a decent sized boot for practical outings. Try joining one of the Modern XK Forum outings to meet a bunch of members who will agree with your choice of car! Equally, don't forget to try the Wroxhall Abbey event on 1st July for plenty of XK8s too.
