New member looking for a xkr 2010 onwards

Postby wils303 » Sat Nov 05, 2016 8:32 am

Good morning all, I am current looking to buy my first Jaguar. I have now driven an earlier 4.2 and now the 5.0. The 5.0 is going to be my choice. I am going to look at one this weekend that is Azurite blue, to be honest it looks black in the photos. I have looked at loads online and this is the first Azurite, has anybody got one ? What is the general opinion on this colour ? Was it not very popular thus you don't see many. Any advice would be greatly received.

welcome

and your doing the right thing by asking questions

however

colour, is personal and emotive and only you can decide if you like it, and don't worry if anyone else does or doesn't

one thing to think about, a less popular colour is arguably a rarer car as not many were made, always a silver linning

ensure you have a good service history , and note very mark and blemish on the car before you buy , as when you get it home you will start finding other faults if you don't

good luck and enjoy

Wise words from BB. If you like a car colour, go for it. It's your choice, no-one else's and beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The 5 litre cars go particularly well, either naturally aspirated or supercharged and Jaguar gradually increased the standard of interior trim throughout the XK production run so they are a good choice but more expensive than their earlier 4.2 litre siblings. Thank you both for your for your quick responses.

Very helpful advice. I guess I was worried there was a reason not many where made in this colour. As you say the specs get better each year. I have now looked at a face lift version with the led lights and different back end. Now I want one of these !

It's good fun looking, can't wait to own one.

Would you guys recommend using one of the qualified inspector through the JEC site ? Im starting to think it would definitely be worth the extra £100 odd.

yes,

the inspector will know all the known weak points of the cars they are looking at, and you will have peace of mind to boot , they might also have an insight into repair costs of any issues they may find...

Considering the sum of money involved, an independent inspection is worthwhile unless you are buying a Jaguar used approved car when it might be considered overkill. I think I can safely say, from my own and other members' experiences that the used Jaguar warranty is a very good one, albeit the sales cost of a car on the scheme will effectively include a premium to cover the warranty. Ok, thanks Mike. What's the best why to contact the inspectors. The vehicle is in the Dorset area. Do I need to speak to the person that runs the club in that region ?

Give Graham Searle a ring at the Bristol office (0117 969 8186). Graham will give you the contact details for a suitable inspector. Mike.

Morning all, couple more questions.
1) jaguar service history is now electronic ? Though you can get paper print outs from dealer ?
2) I assume super unleaded only ?

Thank you for the support.

You are right about the service history. As an owner (or dealer), you can log-on and see the history. if you have a car serviced outside of the Jaguar main dealer network, you can also add the details to the car's service history.
Don't worry about using super unleaded. All XK models are designed to run on normal 95 grade fuel but of course, you can always use super unleaded too. Mike.

Hi Mike I'm intrigued by your advice that you can 'log on' and print your car's service history.
Can you elaborate as I did not know I had this facility. What do you 'log on' too?

Hi Rod,
Try this link (http://www.jaguar.com/owners_internatio ... story.html). You have to go through the usual registration hoops to get in but once there, you have access to the car's history.
If I remember rightly, I found it in the first place via the main Jaguar sales site under 'owners' or a similar designation. Mike.
