Hi everyone

Now three months into XKR ownership a post here is long overdue. I started with all sorts of good intentions about asking for advice here before purchase, but over Christmas I found a 2001 XKR with 52k miles - silver/ivory. Tom Lenthall in Wokingham did an inspection for me and gave it a thumbs up - with a list of stuff to do - so I did the deal with the vendor. This is my first XK and I thought that the smile on the first drive might wear off - it hasn't! Driving it is still very much an event! I got Tom to replace the plastic tensioners top and bottom and to put an updated water pump in as advised by some. I've also had the gearbox oil changed. Great trip to Cornwall last week - shame it rained as I still don't like getting it wet!!

Pic to follow when I have worked out how to insert them.

Nick

Thanks - and I'll try and do that sometime. I remember going past the Haynes place as a child on journeys from Cornwall to London - when the A303 was a road!

Very proud of the car - but do now have a bit of carnation red envy!!

Hello and welcome to the XK8 Forum. We're a friendly bunch and, if needed, you can get some good advice here too. For social events, don't forget the Forum runs. Already, we have 30 cars booked for the 'Sample of Shropshire' (24th April) and there's the 'summer Breeze' trip to the low countries at the end of June to look forward to. Fuller details are available in the magazine for both events. Keep smiling! :) Mike.

Hi Nick, your car looks great, don't forget Thames Valley Region events which are listed on the Events part of the Club website and you would be made very welcome, living in the Region as you do. I did email you last November with a precise of what we get up to - April club night, Monday 18th, is at The Pack Saddle, Chazey Heath RG4 7UD from 7.30pm. I now have an XK8 convertible 2005 in Radiance Red. If you want any further info just email me. :)
