Hello from Cambridgeshire ... or Poland

Postby Krzys » Tue Sep 08, 2020 7:29 pm

Hello!
So it seems I'll be moving back across the Channel some time soon, planning to replace my LHD LWB x350 with some sort of XK - and which generation, is yet to be decided.
Cheers,
Krzys

Welcome and happy hunting for an XK! For maximum enjoyment, make sure you buy the best car you can afford. It can save so much heartache later unless, of course, you are buying one to practice your restoration skills. :D Mike.

Hi Krzys, Good to hear you are going to be looking for an XK, perhaps we will see you at some of our Modern XK events in the future? Not surprisingly as the Modern XK Coordinator, I was recently made aware of a very good X-150 Coupe coming up for sale and it can be found on Autotrader. It is in silver, with 52,500 miles on the clock. If you want to see some pictures, send me an email, my address is on the top of the Modern XK section of the magazine.

Now going patiently through my detailed checklists, to decide I will go for x100 or x150 (or keep x350 and get a non-Jag GT ). For me, Lawson's nostalgia wins over Callum's more muscular approach to felinity, but x150 is so much better car... Still, if reasonable decisions are to be made, then I'd circle around MB's r129 ...which I'm not doing at all:D

Thanks Mike. What I read between the lines is "buy a post-2011 5.0 V8" and yes, such an option is heavily considered. So if I will end up with a Nikasil-era XK8, there will be enough savings for a proper refurb. Where I go, cars are somehow more expensive, but competent care and servicing lare significantly more affordable.

Hi Jim, well, it was not clearly stated, I'm planning to leave the UK, so other way across the Channel. Each time I'll be back on the Island for professional affairs, it would be by air, but there is a high probability I will start joining JEC events/tours in southern Europe.
Thus, I'm looking for a LHD car :)
