New Member in Essex

Postby X200ROG » Sun Oct 15, 2017 8:14 pm

Hi All

Like several other JEC members, I am also a member of the XKEC and have been since June 2011. I am hoping to relocate to the Isle of Wight in the not-too-distant-future, so I look forward to joining in with a new group of members there as well.

I've had my 2001 XKR since May 2010 and still love it. I've spent just over £12,500 on it, in maintenance and enhancements since 2010, but if I'd had an 'ordinary' car during that time, I'm sure the depreciation would have been much more, and the car is now worth more than I originally paid for it (that's what I tell my wife anyway!)

Who needs an excuse to enjoy an XK of any description? Occasionally, I let my wife drive mine and all expenditure is forgiven. They definitely cause more smiles per mile than practically any other car! :D Mike.

Totally agree Mike, except the bit about letting the wife drive it  Having said that, she doesn't want to, (I'm pleased to say  )

Hello and welcome to the J.E.C. Rog.
Would be nice to hear of the enhancements and also to see your pride and joy.
Anyway I'm sure you'll enjoy the club.
Happy Driving.
Take Care.

Thanks for the welcome Andy. I have quite a long list of enhancements that I've carried out over the past few years, and you'll probably see some on the attached photo. My latest big spend was on the wood veneer door caps to match the dashboard, as you can see from the other photo. Eye watering cost, but as the saying goes, it's worth it.

I look forward to enjoying the JEC 8)

Come along to the Essex / Suffolk Borders meeting, at the Cricketers Fordham Heath, on Monday 6th November. Starts @ 20.00, or if you want to eat, a little earlier; there is invariably one of us there from 19.00 ish.

Thanks for the invite Phil, but unfortunately, my car will be temporarily on SORN from the beginning of November, but I look forward to attending other events later on
