Jaguar Cricket Rugby Garden !!!!!!

Postby PHKE » Sun Jul 20, 2014 10:07 am

Hello all
Can anyone please advise me on a formula for an interest-life balance? Since acquiring an XKR MY2001 3 weeks ago it has been the sole focus of my attention so so much to learn !!!
Joining JEC is clearly a wise move and I just need to decide which region to hook into as I am pretty equidistant from Derbyshire, West Mids and Warwickshire - decisions decisions.
I enjoyed reading the post from the chap writing of a mid-life crisis, my preferred explanation is to describe it as a late-life crisis as I was too busy working to have a mid-life one!

Looking forward to learning a lot more and hopefully at some future stage being able to make a valid contribution

cheers
Phil

p.s. I read of the term "upgrades" in reference to a cars specification, in the case of mine is there a an info. source where i can check out what came as standard etc . thanks?

Phil

To learn what options were available you may wish to buy this......

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JAGUAR-XK-SER ... 53ff617bd4

Hope it's the right one for your car.

Phil

The Sales brochure Tony has pointed to is for the 2001MY

Good sources of information on your XKR are:
Jaguar XK8 & XKR Supplementary Information DVD Published by the JDHT Ref JHM1189 (my copy is 1997-2003) (I don't know if JDHT have updated it)
This disc holds Press packs, Sales Brochures, Owner's Literature, Technical Guides

You & Your Jaguar XK8 Published by Haynes written (by our Mag. Editor Nigel Thorley) after the introduction of the X150 series XK.

fyi the Options for 2001MY were:
Adaptive Cruise Control
Heated Front Screen
Metallic Paint (at no extra charge)
Reverse Parking Sensors
Classic Pack (at no extra cost)
Air Filtration
Premium ICE
Car 'phone
First Aid Kit
Front Cup Holder
Ivory Leather
Sat Nav

The XKR would have started out with 18" Double Five wheels as Standard

There were other XKR Options available under the R Performance Options. These would have included (but not limited to) Brembo Brakes, 20" Wheels & Tyres. Unfortunately, I don't have details of the R Performance options

I hope this is of use

Phil

My pleasure.

I think a contemporary sales brochure for the car you own is always a nice thing to have, tho when you think these were available free at the dealerships it may seem a steep price to pay now. Having said that I guess it's a comparatively rare document and peanuts compared to the purchase price of the car. Over the years I've always meant to tour the prestige dealerships gathering up handfuls of these and making a small fortune I've just never got around to it!

With prospective SLK owners I always recommend acquiring a contemporary brochure before purchase as it's one of the few ways of finding your way through the minefield of extras and options. Often the seller doesn't know what options the car actually has, even if they are a (non- main dealership ) dealer.
Also, poorly specced cars can often be much the same price as highly specced cars especially when trick paints and trims are involved. People often just don't know exactly what they are selling.

I still have a mint copy of the beautiful white hardback and slip cased sales brochure for the run out steel body 2005 XK 'S' series that I bought when I was thinking of buying one myself a few years ago.
(In the end I bought my first SLK. But the brochure is so lovely I kept it!)
