Hello from a Birmingham Jaguar owner

Hi Guys :)
I have owned a 2003 XK8 4.2 convertable Pacific blue for just over 12 months and is my every day car.The reason I chose a 4.2 was get away from the Nicaseal and tensioner problems. Since purchasing the car from a Jaguar main dealer its had its usual silly little faults and to be fair where sorted by the main dealer,I have how ever put a few mod cons of my own.I bought from the JEC a rear tail pipe exhaust system, it did away with the rear box and is a straight pipes with polished trims and its sounds what I would call a sports car sound, also I have wired up the running lights ,I first changed the orange reflectors to clear ones and to stay within the law which no one seems to know much about other than it may be a mot failure but it depends were you go , fitted chrome bulbs which show a orange light when lit and in my opinion go well with the blue.If we get a better summer next year. I intend to go on more runs in the car its a fantastic feeling with the hood down nice music cruising down a few country roads. I do intend maybe next year to change the grill for a stainless steel one and also lower the number plate. I also own a 1988 XJS Coupe. For my sins I am the events organiser for the JEC Central Region enough of my ramblings ,I will save for another day.Michael Cool Dude

Hi Michael
Great cars to own and drive, I also fitted bulbs into my running lights but just left them with the original orange covers, looks cool. If it's not to cheeky how much was your rear pipes? My cars the same colour as yours (but a coupe)and Im thinking of fitting a satin black grill and doing away with the cone badge. 8) . maybe fit front spoiler.

ps. I see you have been a member since Nov last year welcome if this is your first post, have you put your jag in the gallery. .

Cheers
Wullie

Hi Michael

I want to carryout the exhaust mod you have done on my coupe, but I am concerned that exhaust note might be too much on a long run, I realise you have a convertible but have you found it to be unobtrusive with the hood up?
The XK8 Forum organised a 'run' in the Ribble Valley last September and hopefully there will be another in 2008 and if so I hope we will see you. There are a few pictures of the event in the Gallery on page 3.
Cheers
John

Hi Guys :D
Is it difficult to put a picture on the gallery,I am not much of a IT person, but will try anything :?

The exhaust sounds like a sports car with out making you deaf its more of a bauble. When I first had it fitted I didnt know what to expect but when I turned the key its as if the car bursts into life, sounds great on exceleration and hearing the gear changes.

My friend went on the Ribble run his name was Doug the one who got lost
I would love to join you guys on the next run ,but my wife his in the teaching proffession so I have to rely on the school holidays.

If I am succesful in getting my car on the web then you will see for yourselves what mods I have done.

My next venture is lowering the number plate and a new stainless steel grill

Michael

No Michael, its a piece of cake putting pictures on the Gallery; just follow the instructions, try it!
Please give Dougie my kind regards, and tell him John was asking about him.
I don't see why you can only come in the school holidays. If your wife is teacher and needs to do the marking at weekends tell her to bring it with her or leave her at home. I went on my own and didn't get lost, just be careful not to follow Dugie!
Thanks for the info about the exhaust, you've persuaded me!
Cheers
John
