XK8 or XKR

Hi everybody, just registered with the xk8 forum. I have a 1992 XJS 4.0 ltr, I am now in a position to sell her and look for an XK, so I will be asking you XK owners for some advice. Hoping you will help me to buy a good one.

Conv or Coupe?

First choose your colour

Then decide whether your going to use the extra 80 BHP that an R offers

When you buy (dependant on budget) go for a 2002 onwards or else one that's had a recent steel lined engine change.

Then ensure that:

Tensioners and chains have been changed to latest versions
It has FJSH
Has new style water pump
You get rid of those Pirelli tyres (tyre technology's moved on in 11yrs)
That the bearings have been changed

I could have gone for a R but chose not to purely based on the insurance premium (double that of an and their requirement that I have a tracker fitted (which I do in the 8 anyway)

Just my personal views and I'm sure you'll get loads of good advice
