Just watching the Tour start now!

Great to see the Yorkshire landscape, although disappointed that it's not back in Kent again!

So, the Tour, British Grand Prix, Wimbledon & The World Cup...what a weekend!

I took the old girl (car not wife) out last week to drive the TDF course from Holmfirth over Holme Moss and the moors on Stage 2; talk about a transformation. The roads had been resurfaced and were well up to billiard table standard as was noticed on the transmission today when I only saw 1 rider stopping with a puncture. The enthusiastic crowds were just like Mont Ventoux or Alp d'Huez : whatever has become of English reserve? Road racing has become a popular sporting spectacle in a way which as lads reading of the exploits of Coppi and Bartali in the '50's we could hope might one day happen but could not imagine it would.

Hi,
I have to say I was almost emotional watching the opening three days, the turnout and support was outstanding, that and two days previous whilst training to compete in the tour I was forced to do a Mark Cavendish and was laid up watching very jealous.

But its been gripping with champions dropping like flies, Cav, Froome, no Wiggo, and now today Contador is out too.

So no previous defending champion is now in the running for the yellow in Paris. Great sport this.
