Proper Recycling!

Postby poprivet » Fri Jun 13, 2014 10:29 am

I bid on some interior cream XJ-S bits on the 'Bay as I thought there might be something of use in the bundle and it was quite local to me which would save postage. I was suprised when I won it for 99p.

It turned out to be doeskin and for an XJ40 :( so not much use to me, but for a quid I didn't want to complain so I loaded up all the bits and pieces into the Berlingo. Another suprise when the chap appeared with the complete rear seat and a passenger seat as well which was all included but not in the listing.

My computer chair had been falling apart for a while now, most of the seat and foam rubber has disintegrated so I decided to marry the Jag seat to the office chair base. I removed the seat mechanism along with all the electrics and any unwanted parts, then modified the swivel chair by welding on angle iron. The base construction is shown below.

The project was quite easy and a great success, so I'm now typing this in supreme comfort with that lovely leather aroma all around

Excellent job!
I see a market, I want one for my boat.
If you had put a 12v transformer in you could have kept all the electrics and had full push button recline and heat!

Already have a jag seat in my boat. The original seat from J44EAG, my S-type.

The other seat is in my parents garage in Warlingham, Surrey. Free to anyone who would like it. I know my parents would be pleased to see the back of it. PM me if you want it.

Be interesting to see a piccie of the one on the boat.
I haven't really got room for a Jag seat onboard as the 3 seat, Oxblood Chesterfield takes up a lot of room!
