Couldn't just stop worrying about the apparent direction Jaguar is now heading in, at least for me. The current line up going forward is great if you like the SUV varieties, but these are not for me. Given a choice on the JLR SUV front would you say one breed was better looking than the other? Sorry, but for me I am saddened by the prospect of no sports, coupe or saloon variants on the horizon. Just have to preserve the ones we have for now I guess.

Hi Nick, totally agree with the "House of Brands" rubbish that JLR are spouting about now. Personally, I believe the Club needs to abandon any hope of having an ongoing relationship with the Jaguar within House of Brands and instead push for Jaguar Classic to be the corporate body that supports our enthusiasm and passion.
As for the Jaguar SUV, despite the fact that I am a proper SUV enthusiast (Range Rover Sport SVR) I have no interest whatsoever in the Jaguar SUV versions. In fact on a recent excursion in a "Loan Car" the E-Pace was the most un-Jaguar like car I have ever come across. I certainly would not pay any money to purchase one.
Same story with the F-Pace, even tried the SVR version on a couple of occasions and it simply wasn't "Special" - which the Range Rover Sport SVR is in spades.
Be good to get other folks views on the PR blurb coming from "House of Brands", but beginning to think about other machinery that would be able to satisfy my needs of a winter car (SUV) and summer / show car - 2 seater convertible of the GT type.

Hi Nick,
As with many, I think it's a really risky strategy to go both full-electric at this stage as well as move to an upper quartile pricing level,
However, the vehicle range doesn't seem to be at odds with that. The focus is not on SUVs, indeed the first vehicle to be launched is the 4-door GT. Yes, there will be an SUV next but also a large limousine. Having developed a strategic electric platform, it wouldn't be a stretch for them to ultimately produce a sports car on that platform. Have you seen the Autocar article?

I think their biggest challenge is going all electric in one go, as the investment and re-tooling has meant that we will go one year with NO Jaguars being sold from the demise of the petrol / diesel to the sales of the first electric. That really takes the brand out of the public mindset for up to 12 months and I think that's the biggest danger to the brand. I'm sure they are working on a marketing and awareness strategy to keep the name forefront in that window, but it's a big risk.
I'm not a fan of electric cars (for many reasons) and still not convinced by the environmental justification. Also with the cost of vehicles, I wonder if I will ever own one before I retire from driving. BUT I suspect the new vehicles will be stunning. The clinics they ran in the US of their early concepts were apparently really well-received. With the die now cast, I'm looking forward to the public announcement of the GT and seeing one in the flesh. And IF they are a sudden success, maybe that will have a positive knock-on effect on the popularity and value of my XJSs! Wishful thinking perhaps?!
