Well hardly 'new', Joanna Lumley must have aged 70 years at least.

However, the series is back on BBC4 and although time has not served Ms. Lumley well at least Gambits XJ-S still looks good.

I think its registration number is NRW 675P I wonder if it survived? unlikely though, the way it was treated in the series :(
Although not a fan of dear old departed Gambit, (his well known coffee bean hand-shake sumed up my personal opinion of him), I forgive him at least for his choice of car.

Steed's Rover SD1 is also growing on me now, especially as so few of them, especially in V8 form survive, although it must have been quite a step down for him to lose his faithful old Bentley.

The Gambit xjs is featured in several "chases" on you tube, type in xjs and many xjs related things apear some good some not so good
I like the Wyn Thomas xjs though it may be a little loud for road use.

Well Its a snow day So I thought I would catch up on the forum

New Avenger and xjs fans may like to know that

" in the series there were actually two Jags used (you can tell them apart by the fact that one of them has a dent in the passenger-side front wing) as neither of them could relied upon to keep going for very long! In fact BL themselves couldn’t supply a back-up when the first one went wrong and the team had to hire the other from a local dealer! "

Taken from an internet guide to The new Avengers

Shame that they didn't have the likes of KWE around to fix-up their XJ-S's to attain a sensible build quality :)

I suppose it was the '70's - recession, industrial unrest, high fuel prices.. Oh! Sound familar? :)

New Avengers..The return of the Saint..

Rubbish television but it was the cars that got the attention. Great advertising. If it wasn't for ATV we wouldn't be talking about crap quality Jaguars in 2009 would we?

Name me a current TV show that has an X-Type/XF/XK as the 'supporting star'?

There isn't one is there.

Missed opportunity or H&S overload?

Those were the days...

In Lovejoy the female auctioneer drives around in a xjs convertible red at first then later on a ice blue one. These are on ITV3 now and again.Must admit cant thnk of any programmes with x type or xk but a black xjr saloon would make a good "villans" car.

Several murderers had xjs's in Columbo episodes
I think Faye Dunaway had a black convertible in one
and a boyfriend of Tyne Daly had a gold coupe in another
