My original Tom - Tom cried 'enough' this week accompanied by an electrical frying smell. Oh dear. We contacted their helpline and were amazed that they even suggested that it might be repairable as it is the first one they ever made. No suggestion of 'don't you think it might be time to get a new one'. That may come later of coures - it was posted to them yesterday for an investigation, so we are waiting . They even sent us a prepaid box to post it in, and that arrived the next day after ringing them on Bank Hol. Monday. We have found them to be ultra helpful and have been able to update it to the latest spec as time went on, so if it has had it we shall get another for that reason alone. The GO730 Traffic looks to be the one which suits us best (about £275), and it reviews as the 'best on the market' which is good enough for us. Bonne route! PaulE.

We have decided to have our old Tom Tom repaired at a cost of £98 inc the dreaded, and it will have a 6 month guarantee. Should be back any time soon.

Seems like Tom - Tom have not quite got it together as we are now told by somebody else more informed that our original model cannot be repaired due to its age and ' I can't understand why you were told that as it is quite wrong'. Oh dear. Our £98 is allegedly winging its way back along with the unrepaired item and we are looking for the best priced 730T, currently Amazon at £250.

i've got a little garmin nuvi. prob not the best in terms of the system, it's pretty basic but nice and small and thin with a restrained design that fits into the bottom right corner of the screen between the wheel and the a pillar perfectly without cluttering up the dash. pretty cheap too.
