My dear old dad is 91 this year and has been done for speeding. Well done sir!
There was no offer of a course and it's just as well as he would have had a swearing session with them. Anyway, he asked for my help in paying the fine over t'internet which we did and the form requires that he sends off the plastic licence off to DVLA with the reference number.
This got me thinking, there's no licence co-part anymore and the plastic licence doesn't have points printed on them so why would they need it? They obviously have a record of the licence and the database records any points so why make it more complicated.
ANPR - Automatic Number Plate Recognition.
'They' can swiftly check whether the car is taxed, MOT'd and insured and all they have to do is pull you over to confirm your identity and whether you have any points or a suspended licence.
Once they get around to installing thumb print scanners in the cars you won't even be able to start it if your licence has been suspended.
The future is not bright, the future is Orwellian.
