Yes I can see the other side too, it does upset me to see them in a breakers yard but also I instantly think of what I might need or what might be better than what i've got at the moment. I wish our local breaker would remove panels though as the XJS they had in got crushed I think (vanished anyway) and i'd already asked if certain panels that I'm in need of and that aren't available could be removed.

Hi again MrIan
Next time you see one in a breaker yard ask if you can buy it as a complete item. You might not be able to due to the severe gov restrictions placed on scrappies, but you may be lucky and get yourself one to keep at home for spares. Or if you've no room at home ask if you can agree a one-off price to strip as much as you can in a day. We've done that for a couple of guys before, it seems to work quite well. It is probably not a good idea to expect the yard to strip and save bits for you. If you want it you have got to be prepared to do the work yourself!
Just a thought anyway.
Take care and keep on using the XJS
Luv
Tara

Yes Tara I am willing to remove the parts myself but the boss guy in the yard didn't want me in there with spot weld cutters and a grinder, I mean they had cutters there and I have my own but he was just saying no. I just think they were being a pain. Shame really as i've never been back as it appeared that because i'd asked twice they ended up getting rid of it completely.
I wish I had the room to store 2 XJSs, but I doubt many people will have.

These are the panels that I needed (outlined in black), only small and would've taken me maybe a couple of hours tops to remove.
Toe boards both sides.
