Down and out

Postby poprivet » Sat Jun 13, 2009 1:15 pm

I spent most of yesterday in A&E. With the radiator removed, I had given it a good hose down outside and was carrying it back into the garage when I stumbled and went down like a sack of potatoes. As the radiator is quite large there wasn't time to cast it aside and the result was my hand was pinned between it and the concrete floor with me on top of it all. The steel locating pin on the rad tore deep into my index finger right at the joint.

Luckily the tendons are OK and no bones broken. Its all been sown back together but I will be out of action for a few weeks. I also twisted one knee badly and bruised the other, so there's no chance of me doing anything to the car soon.

Pop,

Best wishes for a speedy recovery. I do hope there's no lasting damage.

So, was it just a good wash down of the fins or had you you done a decent descaling job with caustic soda or similar?

My gauge was reading just fractionally higher than usual on the motorway today and has always been a little prone to doing that in very hot weather, stuck in traffic with the aircon on. So, could be time to give mine a descaling.

Following your mishap, I will now be doubly careful when walking along with it!

Take care

Thanks for the kind words,

I'm walking about now but the knee still won't let me work at low level, but I'm at least able to start doing all those little jobs like cleaning and painting things that need doing. The finger is healing, although I can't bend it yet and have to keep it dry and clean.

Small progress, but at least in the right direction :)
