How were the floods your way?

Postby Gordon@1962 » Tue Jun 26, 2007 8:01 pm

Just thought I'd ask how everyone copped with the floods yesterday/today?

I live in Hull, East Yorkshire and we have had it really bad in places.
I tried to get to work yesterday and had to give up half way as most of the roads were closed due to floods.
I had a real scary moment in my XJ-S when I got to a roundabout to find it about 2 foot deep.
I thought of turning around but there was too much traffic, so I had to hold on tight and drive into it.
I kept thinking my low slung 'Jag' was going to leak!
Luckily I made it past but a mile down the road I got stuck and had to turn around and come home.

My in-laws had water flooding into their house and had to spend the night upstairs. :?
Heres a few photos of their street.

So sorry to hear it's been so bad where you are, we have got off pretty much unscathed, tho it's been bad in Gloucester and further up the Severn valley. (As usual)
Hope the clear-up goes well for you and yours.
Lucky the XJS air filter intake is at the TOP of the engine bay, unlike some "modern" cars where, apparently, it is at the bottom :?: :?: :?:
Good Luck

Especially diesels, they like cool air. I found out the hard way during the floods in 2000 when the wife's Citroen Volcane TD had a few sips of flood water. Bent con-rods, wrecked engine and written off car.

It's all too common nowadays, and since people aren't encouraged to/ don't look under the bonnet it comes as a nasty and expensive surprise......
