The disappointment to see the N/S door peppered with microblisters / bubbles was offset by a 50 mile run to see if I could replicate the fuel starvation issue that wrecked our plans to visit Brooklands last Sunday for the winter breakfast. The car ran very well and yes, it did miss a beat, but only one after about 40 miles or so. A further 10 miles seems to convince me that the problem was an old fuel filter. The filter was a bit awkward to remove but it came off eventually. No other filters being obvious, I assume that the only other one would be in the tank on the pump which will have to wait for another breakdown for me to go to the trouble to remove it and check it. 3.6 litre cars have swirl pots under the battery according to the factory manual but 4.0 litre cars don't appear to have one, well, this one doesn't. Can anybody tell me if the car does have an additional filter anywhere please other than on the pump? Cheers Clive
