Is this a genuine Insignia?

It could be. The indications are non-standard exterior colour and an interior that looks like it's the non-standard Cream rather than the Magnolia colour that a standard 1994 AJ6 car would be. Most (but not necessarily all) cars had the leaper badge on the wing side, which isn't present but doesn't confirm one way or another.

The Insignia XJS usually has high-back seats but as with anything else from Jaguar, you could probably order what you wanted.

Rob Jenner has the body numbers of the XJS Insignia, so he could confirm for sure if you had the body number and needed to know.

I have bought this car and confirm it is a genuine Insignia.

The paint is Metallic Peppermint which is an Insignia colour. Interior is Magnolia so not an Insignia interior but standard. There are Insignia badges on the wings but not leapers.

I managed to speak to the original owner today who sold the car early in 2014 and he confirmed that after telling the salesman in 1994 he would like an XJS but non of the colours inspired him to write the cheque the salesman rather reluctantly found the Insignia option details. He then chose the Peppermint paint option and wrote the chequer, he preferred the standard Magnolia colour for the leather rather than the Insignia range. The salesman told him Insignia was really for the US market - now this was clearly not true but would explain why one garage at least did not sell many.

It looks a great car!

An Insignia XJS is a rare thing indeed.

Congratulations on getting it! It would be good to see some more photos?!?

rare car only 57/58 XJS Insignia's sold world wide that I know off, very very few in the UK, most were Jaguar demo's, so a customer car is a rare beast indeed, enjoy
