After much talk and chat I've decided to sell the Lister. We are keeping a Lotus Elite with a 3.5 V8 blueprint engine.
Sadly the Lister may just be a little more than we can take on. I've added it to the classifieds on here first and not ebay, I really want someone to put it right.
I've started at £20k and see what happens, it is for sale and offers will be considered.
If you require any info please contact me but I'm sure you have all read the posts any
I thank you all for the interest shown, help and guidance.
Neil

Yes maybe, but I've put it out there to see what people think, the last two 7.0 Listers went for £40k. If it sold for £12-£15k then there's maybe £10K to fix it, you've got a cheap Lister or a good profit. This is a one off 4.0l and maybe worth more maybe worth less, I honestly don't know.
What would you value it at?

BB, yes that's true and if it make £10k then that's what it's worth, I'm happy with that.
I'll come back to you on the MGF

I think it is very difficult to objectively value the car and come up with an asking price. It's likely to be a very subjective purchase for the eventual buyer and hopefully bought because of a love for the car itself rather than pure economics. Its certainly a striking and individual car which I think makes it even more of a "marmite" choice.
Any serious buyer will need to go and see it in any event and get a feel for the work needed, then make an informed judgment based on how much they want it and what that means to them in terms of worth. The fact that it is a straight six rather than a V12 could be a positive or a negative depending on your preferences.
I don't think as a seller you can do much more than try and make sure you aren't undervalueing it, then see where it goes from there.

Just a note to say the Lister is for auction at the Chateau Impney on 04 December 2013 through H&H, looks like it is going to be packed with some fantastic cars.

Neddie,
Just to say the very best of luck with the auction. A nice eclectic mix of cars such as they have that day could well help the sale of your unusual and rare XJS.
