Wanted Urgently - Flasher Unit

Chaps, the XJ-S is off to Le Mans next week and my flasher unit has decided to work only occasionally.

Has anyone got a working spare unit that they would be willing to part with?

My car is an '86 3.6 manual and the flasher unit is a Hella branded one, part number 4DB003425-03. It also has the following text on the top:

HELLA TBB44
4DB003425-03
2(4)x21W +0 ... 5W 12V
Made in Germany
A71373 DOT

The original equipment - "UNIT Direction Indicator Flasher" Part No. DAC 1731 (VIN 105048 on) is still available from Classic Parts at the staggering price of £33.55 (less your discount) plus VAT. If you order it from your local dealer today you may get it tomorrow but should certainly have it by Thurs.
(Best double check the part number before ordering )

There again an aftermarket one size fits all from your local parts supplier may make more economic sense......it should work fine.

Simon, Have you checked every indicator bulb for blackening and cleaned their contact points?

If it is the flasher unit at fault, I'm fairly sure the same part was used on the XJ6 / 12 which may help in finding a replacement.

Many thanks for the replies - I ordered a replacement before I read Sinclair's advice to check the hazard light switch wiring. Sure enough jiggling the HL connector on the back of the switch fixed the fault.

I've cleaned the contacts up and I now seem to have reliable indicators again!

One thing - the left hand instrument cluster green arrow works fine in time with the outside flashing lamps but I only get one flash from the right one even though the lamps on the outside are workig fine...

It's a bit odd! Any comments?!
